Goin' to the chapel...

I know I don't post on my blog very often, but I have a pretty blog-worthy event to share. And you probably have guessed what it is because of the title of my post. Hee heee heeee.

Today after work, I went home to change and get ready to go to Winnipeg and Darcy was already there waiting for me. We went to Winnipeg to try to get some Christmas shopping done and I tried to find pants. We ate supper in the food court - I had to beg Darcy to eat there...he wanted to go to the Keg, but I insisted I wanted to eat in the food court. He kept asking me if I was SURE I didn't want to go to the Keg, but I said "It's not like this is a special date or anything, we are just shopping, let's just go eat at the food court."

After we scarfed down our Sizzling Wok, Taco Time and Booster juices we went to Canadian Tire and then to Tim Hortons like we always do. As we were waiting in line I said that I wasn't sure if I wanted anything (which NEVER happens!) I just wasn't feeling it. Darcy then said I should really get a coffee - I'd regret it if I didn't. So, I ordered the usual large 2 cream 1 sugar and he got an Ice Cap with cream. On the way home I spilled my coffee all over my hand and on my pants and it was really hot.

After we go out, it's just default that we go to my house but this time Darcy asked "Do you want to go to my house or yours?" I said I didn't care and he said "Well, let's go to my house" and that is when I got a little suspicious.

When we go his house he asked if I wanted to go out and look at the stars. I replied "It's cloudy!" (apparently I didn't make anything easy for his this evening!) and he said "No it's not!" So we went out with the sleeping bags and went out to the field and lay in the back of his truck and looked at the stars. After 15 minutes we started to get really cold so I stood up and was about to jump off the back of the truck but I looked at Darcy first and he said "Hold on, don't leave yet!"

Then I knew what was up.

He pulled out a little blue box and asked me to marry him. I stood there and was quiet for a little bit and then said "Oh! This is weird!! Of course I'll marry you! Oh this is weird, no no no, a good weird, but this is weird!!" We hugged & kissed and then got back in the truck and I started asking a million questions about what we should do next, who we should call and details about when he got the ring, how long he had had it etc.

We went back to his house and right away when we opened the door his dad was just standing there. I was cheezing the biggest cheeze ever and I just kept walking to Darcy's room because I wanted Darcy to be the one to tell him! Darcy came inside and asked where his mom was and then she was in the bathroom soaking her feet. So we were standing in Darcy's doorway to his room and his dad was standing by the stairs - he knew something was up. I wanted to go tell Lisa, but Darcy figured we should wait until his mom knew. Finally his mom came down, all smiles, and said "Is it what I think it is?" We both just smiled and then I showed her the ring. I went to tell Lisa and then I called my mom & dad to come over to Darcy's parents house. Then we did a lot phoning around, spreading the news, and now it is 1:05am and we are at Am & Erik's and I have to coach v-ball tomorrow at 8am.

We are deliriously happy and planning our wedding for Saturday April 21st, 2007.

I don't know how many people still read my blog, but I'm going to try to become a better blogger from now on :)

Jill!! You KNOW how excited I am for you. After weeks of speculation and Erik setting his cell alarm with predictions the day finally came :)

You sure made it tough for Darcy last night! Food court, not "feeling" Timmys, saying it's cloudy - I'm glad he just didn't throw in the towel and try again a different day!!!!

I am SO happy for you guys...you are so great together and I couldn't imagine a better person for you to spend the rest of your life with!

Now let the planning begin! I love you, I'm here for you and I am SO incredibly excited to be a part of your life. E&I have been praying for you & Darcy for a long time and we will keep praying. I know God has many great things in store for you two. Love Ya x 1,000,000.

I am so incredibly excited for you and Darcy! It's going to be different when we're all together again but it's going to be a GOOD different, and it'll definitely add some excitement! I hope I can help you along the way if it's in prayer or other ways. Congratulations x 100. Love you both.

So if you would have went to the Keg would he have proposed then? Did anyone know he was going to do it that night?
Congrats! Have fun planning. But do plan dates that involve no planning as often the planning takes over and your relationship feels it.
We'll be thinking of you. One thing Trev and I are passionate about it purity. We pray for people we know who are engaged. We will be praying for you when God brings you to mind.

I got all giddy all over again as I was reading all your comments!!!

Oh mikey...We can not tell you how awesome of a friend you have been. Many adventures have been had in your basement, on the trampoline, and around the firepit. Thanks for all your enthusiasm about our news!! We felt real special. Love ya!!!! (and we both miss you...long overdue for a get together!!)

Amber, what can I say??? Thanks so much for being so awesome. You and Erik are so fun to be with and we love hanging out with you guys. I am so excited for planning our wedding and that you will be a huge part in the planning...oooo so much fun!!! I Love ya tonnes!!!

Janelle, I don't blame you for not checking my site, I know people give up on me. But I promise to be a more faithful blogger now that I will acctually have something to blog about. It is kinda crazy that we spent so little time together but it feels like I know you and Kamryn so well because of your blog. I will try to comment more often because I often visit and think of how cute she is.

Chels, thanks for your prayers, they will be much needed Im sure.

Kels, really things wont be THAT different when we hang out. We all leave at about the same time anyways and its always with our significant other.

Rebekah--thanks for your prayers and encouragment. I will keep in mind to not let planning consume all our time together. In answer to your questions, no he would not have proposed at the Keg. He just wanted to take me to my favorite restaurant on this special day. But I like to make things hard on him! And no one else knew his sneaky plans for the night. We left his house without saying bye to anyone and they all had no clue where we went, so his mom was a little suspicious.

Thanks everyone for praying and being so supportive, it means a lot to us! Feel free to leave planning tips, or further advice!!!

I just can't believe my childhood friend and you are getting married!!!! I can still clearly remember....... it was in our face pet and snack mix days..... we were sitting in the school gym of RVS and were talkin about how cute these certain guys (Darcy and Jared) were. Now about 3 years later, look where we are. That time has sure flown by. Jared and I love hanging out with you guys and we are soooooo EXCITED for you. Just let me know if you ever need help in planning anything, I will be more than happy to help with anything you need..... even if all you need is a face pet!
Love you and all the best!
